Sunday, November 2nd is Family Worship - it's the last one for 2008.  The next one will be in 2009.

Yes, something 'treat-like' will be given out - as well as something orange...

See ya there - 6pm!

Trunk or Treat

This Friday is the day.  So far, we have 23 tubs full of candy to hand out in the trunk line.  Here's the details!!

5-6pm - indoor carnival & quarter concessions open for families who have a child with a disability

For ordering procedures & to view the menu - just for all the details, go to www.angelfoodministries.com.

Helpers at Church

We have a need for some new volunteers to help during the 10:30 service at church.  The baby nursery rooms (0-12 months & 12-24 months) need help!   If you can help, contact Becca Renaud.  Her e-mail is beccarenaud@hotmail.com or her phone # is 263-5023.

Thanks!!

Helping Flood Victims

Remember all that flooding that happened this spring?  Well, there's a way to help the vicitms of that flooding.  Some were here in Phelps County - some were in Pulaski County.

Volunteers are wanted for training to work with people who have been victims of this flooding.  FEMA/SEMA has ways to help, but need volunteers to assist in the process.

An interesting fact:  families impacted by a disaster are impacted for 3 generations.  Helping a family now get back on their feet is an investment in our community as well as that family.

If you are interested in knowing more about this.  Contact Connie Grisham 364-7030 ext. 161 or e-mail her at conniegrisham@copic.ext.missouri.edu.

The time commitment would be up to you.  It could be 1 hour a week or 20 hours a week.  It is as a volunteer.  It's a great way to share the love of Jesus with people by helping them in this recovery time.

Family Worship

Family Worship is this Sunday evening (September 7th) at 6pm.  There's no game show this week, but you won't want to miss 'Silly Songs with Mr. Jeremy'.  And, we're starting a sermon series, sort of.  We'll be learning about how to apply lessons from the Old Testament.  This Sunday:  Jonah!

Come one, come all!  It's exciting worship, meaningful fun and quality family time.  Wear something orange for a special treat at the end of the service.

Flip Flops for Sunday's ServeU

This Sunday, the kids in ServeU (during the 9:15 service) need to bring in a pair of plain flip flops. I heard that Big Lots has some for $1. There's not much left at Wal-mart.

These will be decorated by the kids and sent off to Show-Me Christian Children's Ranch.

Thanks!

FYI - Mrs. Charla's out of the office

It's been a whirlwind of a summer.  Not only have we had a lot of activities with church, but add in a Disney vacation at the beginning of the summer and that equals a crazy Jamison family!

Just kidding.  We're not totally crazy, but I can confess that I am a little worn out.  I'm going to take a couple of days to rest, recuperate and give my house some much-needed attention.  It's time to get things in order for the fall.

Children's Choir will start on September 3rd.  Upward registration will begin in October.  After that, the holidays will be just around the corner.

If you need anything from me this week, drop me an e-mail or leave a message on my cell.  Thanks a bunch!

God is like...a commercial!

These come from a 5th grade teacher in a Christian school who asked her class to look at TV commercials and see if they could use them in some way to communicate ideas about God
  • God is like Bayer Aspirin - He works miracles
  • God is like Coca Cola - He's the real thing
  • God is like Hallmark - He cares enough to send His very best
  • God is like Tide - He gets the stains out that others leave behind
  • God is like G.E. - He brings good things to life.
  • God is like Delta - He's ready when you are
  • God is like Allstate - You're in good hands with Him.
  • God is like Chevrolet - the heart beat of America
  • God is like Bounty - He's the quicker picker upper - can handle the tough jobs - He won't fall apart on you.

Bereaved Families

There's been several in the past week or so who have had loved ones pass away.  Please keep these families in your prayers.

Kluzak/West families
Moore family
Graves family
McKee family
Snelson family

It's hard for us to say good-bye, but I know we'll see them in eternity.  Please especially keep the children in these families in your prayers.  It's so hard for them to understand.

ServeU

This past Sunday, we were collecting snack foods to put in to care packages to take to the Christian Campus House (MS&T).  We did not receive very many contributions.  So, if you'd like to send some candy, gum, microwave popcorn, small bags of snacks, etc...please do so this Sunday.

Rice bowl turn in date:  Sunday, August 17th.

On Sunday, August 24th, we'll be decorating flip flops to send to Show-Me Christian Children's Ranch.  Kids need to bring in a pair of new, plain flip flops.  (I saw them for $1 at Wal-mart a few days ago).  I have the various decorating supplies.  The kids will learn a little about Show-Me and make gifts to send to them.

Let me know if you have any questions!

NEW Babies & HELP Wanted

We have a couple of new babies in our world. The Moronkeji's had their baby girl here in Rolla, MO yesterday (5/2/08). I would like to schedule some meals for her for next week. Let me know if you can help.
As of 12:05am 5/3/08 (Ghana time), the Joneses have a new baby girl. She was 7lbs 2oz with a head full of hair. Juli is doing well and so is the baby, who hasn't been named as of yet. I don't think we can do meals at this point considering they are in Africa, but we can certainly visit their blog & leave messages for them AND keep them in your prayers. http://www.djoulajoneses.blogspot.com/
Lastly, one of our expectant mothers is having some difficulty with her pregnancy and is on bedrest. She's almost 29 weeks, but anticipates being on bedrest for the remainder of her pregnancy. If you're available to help with meals, let me know. jcjam@fidnet.com

Vaca & your thoughts on Easter, please!

  • The fam just got home from a short vaca. We visited some old friends in Iowa. It seems strange to have gone 8+ years without seeing our friends, the White's. It was a nice change of zip code for a few days. We rested, laughed, played, shopped; and we laughed some more. We made a short stop in Seymour, IA on our way home. This is where Mr. Jeremy's great-great-great grandfather settled after moving from Ireland. He was the first of Jeremy's family to move to America. It was neat to see the 'Jamison's' sign over the building that served as a mercantile to Seymour in the late 1800's.
  • I'd love to hear some feedback on the Easter Eggstravaganza. This was our first time doing the egg hunt before Easter - and we'd never done the games, etc. along with it. What did you think? Did it work well for your Easter weekend? How did your kids like it? What did your kids like the most? Leave me a comment...
  • Thank you to the many volunteers who came, who saw, and who conquered the Easter Eggstravaganza. I don't know how many people came in all, but there were 200+ kids who hunted (or just ran out & grabbed) eggs. Thank you to everyone who pitched in and helped clean up.
  • For those of you who've been asking, I do have a few things planned for April & May (including a Baptism class). I'll try to get that all together and posted next week. I'm starting to work on summer stuff. If you have any great field trip suggestions, leave a comment!

Thank you!! I love your kids :)

volunteers & donations for the Easter Eggstravaganza

Thank you to so many of you who have donated candy & eggs. We have over 5,000 eggs already filled and ready to go. This means that for each of the four egg hunts, there will be over 1,000 eggs! Thank you for your generosity & help!
If you'd still like to contribute, candy is taken care of. Donations can still be made in the form of your time (volunteering) or with a cash donation.
Volunteers: this would include set-up on Friday (Mar 21) or early Saturday (Mar 22); I have some organizing/bag stuffing that I could use help for on Wednesday (Mar 19); and, I need folks to be at the games & booths during the Eggstravaganza (Mar 22).
Donations: money donated would help with the rental of inflatables, purchase of crafts, rental of the helium tank, etc. Checks or cash can be put in the offering on Sunday or brough to the office during the week. Please add 'Eggstravaganza' or 'Egg Hunt' on the memo line.
